On May 02, 2022 at about 1150 hrs, on duty troops of Border Outpost Madanghat, 35 Battalion, apprehended 04 Bangladeshi fishermen who had entered Indian territory. These fishermen had come fishing in Padma river by EFCB boat and entered Indian territory. The apprehended fishermen have been identified as Rabiul Hussain (age 26), S/o-Azad Hussain, Rafimul Islam (age 38), S/o- Rohil Amin, village- Beparapara, Thana Damkura, District-Rajshahi (Bangladesh) and Sujid Biswas (age 26), S/o- Ganesh Biswash, Deepak Biswash, S/o– Sithinath Biswash, Village – Belia Ithampur, Thana – Pakgachcha District – Khulna (Bangladesh).
During interrogation, all admitted that they had entered the Indian territory in the greed of catching more fish. They were apprehended by BSF personnel while crossing the International Boundary. After examining the four fishermen and the EFCB boat, all were handed over to the Border Guard Bangladesh on humanitarian and goodwill, as they were not involved in any previous crime.
Satish Kumar Dogra, Commanding Officer of 35 Battalion stated that the Border Security Force is taking strict measures to prevent infiltration along the Indo-Bangladesh border. Considering the seriousness of the crime of the apprehended people and to maintain the mutual cooperation and goodwill of the Border Guarding Forces of both the countries, some innocent Bangladeshis are handed over to the Border Guard Bangladesh safely.
