The XXIX Convocation for DLitt, DSc, PhD, MPhil, Masters, Bachelors, Diploma, etc. holders during the period from Jan 01, ’20 to Feb 28, ’22 of Gauhati University is being held amid security measures at the university premises in the state capital.
Governor Jagdish Mukhi is to grace the occasion. Senior professors of GU, as well as students, are to be present. Help desks have been set up to facilitate the students who are traveling from various districts.
In other words, the 29th Convocation of the Gauhati University is being held today for conferring degrees/diplomas/certificates to successful candidates (of both regular and distance mode) of all examinations for which results were declared during the period from 1st January 2020 up to 28 February 2022.
Degrees will also be conferred to the candidate(s), who obtained their D.Litt., D.Sc., Ph.D., & M.Phil. degrees from GU during the above-mentioned period. The eligible candidates desirous of attending the Convocation had to apply online.
It may be mentioned that the first convocation was held on 3 Feb 1951 in which the Convocation Address was delivered by Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan, the 1st Vice President of India. The Gauhati University Act came into force on 26th January 1948.
