The incident is from Matiyari village in the border area of ​​Nadia district, where the woman, who is breathing her last, expressed her last wish to her son that before her death, she wants to meet her daughter who is living in Bangladesh one last time. Hearing his mother’s wish, the son started crying bitterly because while on one hand the matter is related to International security which most arduous task and on the other hand the fear of not being able to fulfill the last wish was tormenting his mind. Hearing such words of the mother, the son tried his best but nothing worked except despair. He was suggested by one villagerfor pleading the BSF for help.
Tota Mandal, a resident of the border village Matiyari, requested the Company Commander of the 54th Corps Border Out Post Matiyari at around 1650 hrs to kindly allow his mother Hawa Bibi to meet her daughter Maniya Bibi Mandal, who is just 2 kms away from the International Boundary, Village – Madhopkhali, District – Chaudanga lives in Bangladesh. He told that his mother is suffering from chronic illness and is taking her last breath. If BSF helps, his mother’s last wish to meet her daughter is fulfilled he would be forever grateful to BSF.
The son made appeal to the BSF for help
Upon getting the request for help, the Company Commander immediately contacted his counterpart Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in this regard without any delay keeping in mind the humanitarian and emotional aspect. Following the request of the BSF, the BGB also stepped forward considering the humanitarian approach. Therefore, the Border Security Forces of both countries, keeping humanity paramount in view of mutual cooperation, arranged for the sister living in Bangladesh to meet her mother and daughter at the zero line near the international boundary at between 1715-1745 hrs. In this way, it was possible for the daughter to have the last sight of her mother.
Upon meeting her daughter, the mother gave her blessings to BSF and stated that now she can die with peace.
At the same time, when the daughter saw her ailing mother, the atmosphere there became very inconsolable. At the same time, after meet, lot of prayers were coming out of the mouth of the ailing mother. Mother was unable to speak at the last moment but even in such a condition it was being said again and again that due to BSF she would now be able to die peacefully. At the same time, the son also said that he has got a lot of relief after the meeting.
BSF always takes care of social and human values
Here, on this episode, Shri Deshraj Singh, Commanding Officer, 54 Battalion told that BSF personnel are deployed day and night without blinking an eye on the border and take care of the security of the country as well as the religious and social values of the border residents.
