Border Security Force under South Bengal Frontier caught a Bangladeshi woman from border area while crossing the border illegally. The woman was trying to cross International Boundary from India to Bangladesh from the area of Border Out Post Tarali, 112 Battalion under North 24 Parganas district.
The apprehended woman has been identified as 1) Amina Siddiqui (fictitious name), age- 24 years, District- Khulna, Bangladesh.
During preliminary interrogation, the apprehended woman told that she is a Bangladeshi national. After getting divorced from her husband in 2014, she was living in her mother’s house in Khulna, meanwhile she met a Bangladeshi woman Shilpi who offered her a job as a waiter in a bar in India. The woman told that she had come to India in 2018 by illegally crossing the International Boundary alongwith Shilpi, for which she had also paid 30000 Taka to Shilpi. After coming to India, Shilpi took her to Kamathipura, Mumbai and started living in a rented house there. Further she revealed that after 1 week, Shilpi asked her to do prostitution work, but she refused, on which Shilpi beaten her and abused her. The woman was then forced into prostitution. The woman told that she worked for 6 months in a brothel in Kamathipura, Mumbai, but was not given any money. After that the woman was sent to another brothel in Newar Kalyan, Mumbai. The woman told that she did not want to do prostitution work and wanted to go back to her home, so the woman fled from there on 10 May 2022 and reached Kolkata. After coming to Kolkata, a friend of the woman told about the unknown Indian broker, with the help of whom she was crossing the border, for which she had given ₹ 30000/- to the Indian broker, but as soon as she was crossing the border When the Border Security Force personnel caught her.
After arresting the woman, Sanlap NGO has declared the matter as a case of human trafficking.
The apprehended woman has been handed over to Swaroop Nagar Police Station for further legal action.
Narayan Chand, Commanding Officer, 112 Battalion informed that the Border Security Force is taking strict measures to check illegal movement across the Indo-Bangladesh border. Due to which the people involved in such crimes are facing a lot of difficulties and some of them are getting caught, who are being punished according to the law.
