6 Bangladeshi apprehended on the border by BSF, 02 handed over to Border Guard Bangladesh as a gesture of humanity and goodwill

On 12/13 May, 2022, 6 Bangladeshis were detained by the alert troops of 68 Battalion’s Border Out Post Jeetpur at 2215 hrs and Border Out Post Ranghat at 0225 hrs while crossing the International Boundary illegally. They are identified as 1. Manohar Begum (30), District – Niakhali, Bangladesh 2. Nashima Khatoon (18), District – Khulna (Bangladesh) 3. Sumiya Khanum (22), District- Khulna (Bangladesh) 4. Biswajit Nath (55), his wife Sandhiya Nath (40)and his son Dhruba Nath(15), Distt – Chittagong (Bangladesh).

During interrogation, it came to know that due to unemployment, it became difficult to sustain his family, so he was going to Maland (West) Mumbai, India for employment. And Biswajit Nath told that he was coming to Medinipur, India with his wife and son (who were apprehended together) for visit to Navadweep temple. But they were caught by BSF troops while crossing the International Boundary.

Out of those apprehended, 02 Bangladeshi Nationals(Vishvajeet Naath & Sumiya Khanam) have been handed over by BSF to Border Guard Bangladesh as a gesture of goodwill and humanity and the rest to Bagdah Police Station.

Shri Pranab Prabhakar, Officiating Commanding Officer of 68th Battalion informed that Border Security Force is taking stringent measures to prevent infiltration along Indo-Bangladesh border due to which some people are being apprehended. Considering the seriousness of the crime of the apprehended people and due to mutual cooperation and goodwill of the Border Guarding Forces of both the countries, some of them are handed over to the Border Guard Bangladesh.
