Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma launched the ceremonial distribution of appointment letters to 22,958 new recruits in 11 departments of the state government in a programme held at Veterinary College Playground, Khanapara in Guwahati today. The Chief Minister, on the occasion, handed over appointment letters to 17 candidates.
It may be mentioned that out of these posts, appointment letters were distributed for 8,867 posts in Home Department, 11,063 in Education Department, 330 in PHE Department, 105 in Water Resources Department, 69 in Social Welfare Department, 2419 in Health Department, 55 in Agriculture Department, 23 in Environment & Forest Department, 8 in PWD (Roads) Department, 2 in Mines & Minerals Department and 17 in Labour Welfare Department.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Dr. Sarma urged the new recruits to take a pledge to perform their duties with dedication and sincerity. He said that the Assam Government is moving in a planned way towards fulfilling its promise made to the people during election rallies of proving one lakh government jobs and two lakh employments to the youth of the state if voted to power.
Stating that fight against the Covid-19 pandemic and protecting the lives and livelihood of the people for the next five months after the formation of the government was its priority, Dr. Sarma said that once the situation became normal, the government took several key initiatives including enhanced benefit under Orunudoi scheme, the launch of MFI Loan Relief Scheme etc. as part of fulfilling its election promises. He said that the ministers of his cabinet worked unrelentingly during this period as a result of which it became possible to provide government jobs to 4,779 youths already. In continuation to this, the state government has organized today’s event to ceremonially distribute appointment letters to 22, 598 recruits, he added.
Chief Minister Dr. Sarma said that during his tenure as Education Minister, he had the opportunity to give appointments to TET-qualified candidates in a clean and transparent manner. After taking charge as the Chief Minister, he urged all his cabinet colleagues and the officers to conduct the recruitment process in the most transparent manner so that no one could raise any question or doubt. Dr. Sarma also thanked all those involved in the recruitment process for their sincerity and dedication in ensuring the recruitment in a fair and transparent manner. The Chief Minister also urged the new appointees to take a resolve to perform their duties to transform the lives of the underprivileged. Saying that state government employees could make a meaningful contribution toward changing the fate of the state, Dr. Sarma observed that initiatives such as Mission Basundhara created new hope among people and paved way for developing a new Assam. He further said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision and cooperation gives inspiration and motivation to take the state towards new growth trajectory.
Moreover, Dr. Sarma said that the state government has been making committed efforts to turn all promises made during election rallies into reality and keeping this promptness forward, necessary steps are being taken to appoint seven to eight thousand youth in government service in next few days. He also announced that the government would conduct written examination for recruitment into 26,000 posts during last week of July. He also urged the new recruits to remain always grateful to their parents.
While Chief Secretary to the Government of Assam Jishnu Baruah delivered the welcome address, PHED Minister Ranjeet Kumar Dass, Agriculture Minister Atul Bora, Environment & Forest Minister Parimal Suklabaidya, Health Minister Keshab Mahanta, Education Minister Dr. Ranoj Pegu, Mines & Minerals Minister Jogen Mohan, Social Welfare Minister Ajanta Neog, Political Secretary to the Chief Minister Jayanta Malla Baruah, DGP Bhaskarjyoti Mahanta, senior state government officials and other dignitaries were present in the programme.
