World Health Organization awarded India’s ASHA workers with Global Health Leaders Award

World Health Organization awarded India’s ASHA workers with Global Health Leaders Award on Sunday for their crucial role in healthcare facilities in rural areas of India during the ongoing 75th World Health Assembly.

In a tweet WHO mentioned, ” The Accredited Social Health Activist Workers (ASHA) are more than 1 million female volunteers in #India, honored for their crucial role in linking the community with the health system and ensuring that those living in rural poverty can access primary health care services



PM Narendra Modi Congralatues ASHA workers in a tweet PM Modi mentioned, ” Delighted that the entire team of ASHA workers have been conferred the @WHO Director-General’s Global Health Leaders’ Award. Congratulations to all ASHA workers. They are at the forefront of ensuring a healthy India. Their dedication and determination is admirable.”


In the Northeastern states of India ASHA (Accredited Social Health Activist) has been doing a tremendous job in the Covid-19 pandemic. Geographically Eight Northeastern states of India is called the backword states of India.
