India is the biggest trade partner of Bangladesh in South Asia.Bangladesh is also an integral part of India’s Act East Policy.The overall trade between India and Bangladesh has seen an increase. Thus, it is of great interest for India to develop stronger economic relations with Bangladesh. The Maitri setup can be seen as a symbolic marker for the enhancement of stronger bilateral relations with Bangladesh.
Founded in 1830, Calcutta Chambers of Commerce has been playing a pioneering role in fostering trade and commerce.It conducted it’s Industry Interactive Meet on Wednesday, 25th of May at a city hotel of Kolkata.

In replying to a tourism related question KK Kejriwal said, “2/3rd of our business comes from West Bengal. We do understand we have a lot tourisms here in Bangladesh.”
Andalib Elias, Hon’ble Deputy High Commissioner of Bangladesh in Kolkata told, “We are happy to be here today. We have worked closely with India and will continue to do so. We have never moved out of India. Coming to the deficit of trade that Bangladesh had, the situation is improving. The trade significantly have multiplied by 2.5 and we will continue to do so.Concluding, I would like to say we are always there with India.Long Live India Bangladesh Friendship.”
