Kolkata, 28 May 2022: H.E Mr. Alejandro Simancas Marin (Ambassador of Cuba to India) during an interactive session hosted by the Indian Chamber of Commerce on Friday said ” There has been no conflict in the relations between the two countries and we see them growing in the coming years. We are looking for more Indian investment in Cuba.” The discussion emphasized on improving the bilateral relationship between Cuba and India. Various collaborations between the different sectors from the two countries were also discussed.
Asif Iqbal, President of Indian Economic Trade Organization in the session said ” Emphasizing on the health sector would be beneficial for bilateral relations. We are always looking for more investment opportunities from India to Cuba. ICC has also been very helpful in this venture.”
Pradeep Sureka, President – ICC & MD, Sureka Group said ” India and Cuba have a high level of political contact. We as a chamber look forward to strengthening this relationship as there is more that both the countries have to gain from this friendship.” He also mentioned, ” India has extended six lines of credit (LOC) amounting to USD 248 million to Cuba in power, wind energy and fertilizers. India had also extended USD 100 million to meet food grain shortages in that country. He also remarked, “In 2021 the bilateral trade between the two countries was 21.28 million.”
