Union government is giving emphasis to infrastructure and connectivity development in Northeastern region says Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman, Union Finance Minister while addressing the NADI-2022, Asian Confluence River Conclave at Guwahati today.
In her address Union Finance Minister said that Prime Minister is giving importance to Neighbourhood first policy and also Act East policy and this focus has shown positive results.
Sitharaman also said that Conclave like this actually focuses on issues which will have to so blend with the policy making thinking which goes on, otherwise it’s always possible to ignore something which are important. She further added that this Conclave has kept five ‘C’ as it’s focus areas such as Commerce, Culture, Connectivity, Conservation and Capacity building. These five pillars essentially captures all the areas which are so critical for the development of Northeast region, she added.
Addressing the Conclave Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, said that NADI is a remarkable initiative, it aims at promoting the high potential sector of sub regional cooperation in BBIN and ASEAN region.
Dr. Sarma further said that in the rapidly changing geo-political scenario of the world today better cooperation and connectivity with judicious use of natural resources in a far sighted and ecological sounded manner is the key for overall prosperity of our region.
