South Asian Forum for Environment stakeholder’s workshop at Guwahati

South Asian Forum for Environment ( SAFE) in collaboration with Assam Agricultural University, NFDB, NERC and State Fisheries Department organised a day long stakeholder’s workshop on  “Pricing of Wetland Ecosystem Services”  today at Guwahati.

The aim of the workshop is to discuss the economic value of periurban wetlands in urbanizing areas of Assam with regard to their ecosystem services.

Assam’s Forests, Environment & Fisheries minister Parimal Suklabaidya attended the workshop and spoke at length about the significance of wetlands and its ecosystem in the lives of the citizens. He further talked about wetlands’ resources and their values in creating livelihoods.

South Asian Forum For Environment (SAFE), a regional civil society organization working towards accomplishing SDGs through community-based interventions in the Indian ecoregion, has been working at the grassroots at Assam since 2014 when SAFE implemented the water and sanitation program of World bank in slums of Guwahati and Hojai in collaboration with Guwahati municipal corporation.
