Keeping view of World Environment Day 2022 with the central theme “Only One Earth”, the Assam State Zoo cum Botanical Garden Guwahati Assam has initiated a program in which the Voice of Environment(VoE) and Royal Global University, Guwahati also joined. The event has started with a plantation drive, with VoE members, RGU Faculty and students, school students, research scholars, and forest department officials.
The above drive was followed by a nature walk. The team also saw various wild animals on the zoo premise. After this, the team gathered in the DFO office for an interactive session. Dr Ashwini Kumar IFS , DFO Zoo. said the student community should connect more with the practical aspects of environmental conservation with the regular class lectures. Dr Priyasa Saikia ACF has said about carbon footprints and its understanding. The gathering highlighted the student’s roles and responsibilities in nation-building and leadership for the environmental initiative.
The students were very interactive during the discussion session with Zoo officials. They expressed their willingness to participate in such environmental activities, and it was a learning and fruitful event for them. The environment is for all, and it’s our responsibility. Every day is Environment Day. The team believes “together we can make a difference.”
