The plantation drive started from the residential colony area led by Shri Ravi Kant, Regional Executive Director, AAI in presence of heads of the department. A total 200 saplings of different varieties including indigenous flowers and fruits were planted by the AAI employees on the day at the premises.
Cheering employees on the occasion, Shri Ravi Kant also urged all to take care of the saplings once it has been planted so that it could serve the purpose of saving the environment. He was joined by the General Managers, senior AAI officials, members of employees union, women’s welfare ‘Kalyanmayee’ members and the employees.
The participation of women employees was encouraging everyone to plant a tree for a greener and healthier environment. At MBB Airport Agartala, 30 saplings of different fruit bearing trees and seasonal flowering trees were planted under the leadership and supervision of Airport Director. All HOD’s of AAI, security InCharge, CISF and Station Managers of different Airlines participate in the plantation drive. The varieties of saplings include Mango, Tamarind, Gooseberry, May flower and Bakul flowering plants. At Lilabari Airport, Children cleaned the playing area and planted saplings in the premises with their parents.
At Shillong Airport, AAI in association with India Tourism celebrated the Environment Day at Airport and presented the traditional Gamocha and saplings to departing passenger as a good gesture.
Similar activities were also observed at all AAI airports in the North East Region including Dibrugarh, Imphal, Lilabari, Jorhat, Silchar, Shillong, Rupsi, Dimapur, Tezpur, Tezu where AAI employees along with family members also participated in the plantation programme.
