The BJP-led NDA on Tuesday selected former Jharkhand’s Governor Draupadi Murmu to be candidate for presidential polls 2022.
She is the first governor of Jharkhand to complete the five year term and the first tribal leader to be nominated to the post of President of India. She hails from the Santhal tribe of Odisha. Murmu started out as a teacher and then entered into Odisha politics in 1997.
Earlier today, united opposition party selected Yashwant Sinha as a candidate of the non-BJP parties.
