(District – Nadia)
On June 22, 2022, a girl was apprehended on the International Border by the troops of Border Out Post Gede, 54 Battalion. The girl was pleading to the BSF troops to go to Bangladesh without visa. The apprehended girl was identified as Soran (fictitious name), age 18 years, District Khulna, Bangladesh. During interrogation, Soran revealed that in 2019, she had come to India illegally with her friend. The friend had promised her to get married when they came to India but sold it to a woman in Bangaon, West Bengal on arrival to India. From where the woman took her to Bangalore and there she was forced to do prostitution work. Three days ago, she managed to escape from there after getting a chance and came here.
As the apprehended woman does not have any valid documents, the BSF handed her over to the Police Station Krishnaganj.
Sh. Desh Raj Singh, Commanding Officer, 54 Battalion stated that innocent girls are brought to India by smugglers from the border areas of both the countries on the pretext of good work or marriage and here they are pushed by the quagmire of prostitution from where it is impossible to get out.
