Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) is not implemented if I elected President of India: Yashwant Sinha

The Common Candidate of the Opposition Parties Yashwant Sinha visits Assam on July 13. APPC chief Bhupen Bora welcome Yashwant Sinha in Guwahati.

Interacting with opposition MLA and MP of Assam Singha said, if he elected President of India Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) is not implemented.

Singha also said , ” the election for the 15th President of India is taking place in highly troubled conditions. Never before did our Republic face as many simultaneous threats to the Constitution. The economy is badly mismanaged.

The Indian rupee has suffered the steepest fall against the US dollar during the tenure of the current Prime Minister — from 58.44 in 2014 to 79.63 as of yesterday. The unprecedented price rise has badly hit the common people. Here is an example. The price of an LPG cylinder in 2014 was Rs 410. Today in Guwahati it is 1129 — nearly 300% increase. Record unemployment, especially in the North-East, has created a bleak future for our youth in the country.

Speaking to media persons Singha told Indian democracy is in grave danger. Every institution of democratic governance is being subverted by the ruling party and its government. Agencies like the ED, CBI, Income Tax department and even the Governor’s office are being weaponized to target Opposition leaders, to engineer defections in Opposition parties and to topple Opposition-run state governments.

Singha urge MPs and MLAs of Assam – regardless of their party affiliations to vote for him after giving due consideration to all these highly relevant issues.

Earlier Yashwant Sinha was Finance Minister Atal Bihari Bajpayee led NDA government.
