On 22 July, 2022, at around 1230 hrs, a 59 year old suspicious woman was apprehended by the troops of Border Out Post Jayantipur, 158 Battalion, BSF. During a search conducted by the lady constable of BSF, a packet was recovered from inside the woman’s clothes.Total US $19,700/- was recovered from the packet which is priced at Rs.15,72,848/- in the Indian market. Women smugglers were trying to take this packets from India to Bangladesh.
The apprehended woman revealed that she is a housewife, but she is indulged in smuggling activities to earn money. He revealed that this packet had to be handed over to unknown smuggler after crossing the duty line of BSF. For this work he was to get Rs 1000/-. The apprehended woman and the seized US currency have been handed over to the Police Station Petrapole for further legal action.
