LARGEST GOLD SEIZURE BY BSF ON INDO-BANGLADESH BORDER: RECOVERY OF 01 MORE GOLD BISCUIT DURING COMBING OPERATIONON

On 21.07.2022, based on specific intelligence inputs of cross-border movement of smugglers in the Area of Responsibility of Border Out Post Gunarmath, 158 Battalion BSF, District- North 24 Parganas, the troops of Border Out Post Gunarmath, 158 Battalion BSF, Sector Kolkata, South Bengal Frontier laid an ambush in the target area of International Border along Ichhamati River near village Gunarmath. Troops recovered Gold weighing 41.49 Kgs with market value of Rs. 21.22 Crore.

On 22 July, 2022, during combing operation in the area, troops recoved 01 more gold biscuit (2 pieces) weighing 116.63 gram leading to total seizure of 41.61 kg of Gold with estimated value of Rs 21.82 crore.

Sh. Ajit Kumar Tete, Officiating IG, South Bengal Frontier along with Sh. Rajesh Kumar, DIG, Sector Kolkata, Sh. Amrish Kumar Arya, DIG, South Bengal Frontier visited the spot and appreciated the efforts of BSF troops.

The achievement was termed as the largest single seizure of Gold by any Indian law enforcement agency along the Indo-Bangladesh border.
