World Hepatitis day was celebrated on 28 Jul 2022 at 151 Base Hospital under the aegis of Guwahati Medical College and Hospital and North East Digestive & Liver Foundation (NEDLF), to commemorate birth of Nobel Laureate Dr Baruch Blumberg who discovered Hepatitis B virus and developed a vaccine for it.
The WHO theme of “Bringing hepatitis care closer to you” is actively being pursued by 151 BH with awareness campaign, preventive vaccination of high risk individuals, treatment/follow up and complication management of patients of Hepatitis B and C in its AOR.
The hospital actively participated in an NEDLF event “Run for your Liver” with 10 JCOs and 25 OR running for hepatitis awareness. An awareness lecture for the troops, with special emphasis on the services scenario was taken by the Gastroenterologist of 151 BH on 28 Jul 2022 at Navdeep Hall, Narangi. It was attended by 100 ORs and families who took keen interest in the topic. Several common misconceptions were alleviated with graphics and active interaction.
Lastly, the events culminated with a CME in collaboration with Guwahati Medical College which was well attended.
