Bangladeshi woman arrested at Indo-Bangladesh border, handed over to Bangladesh Border Guard as a gesture of humanity and goodwill

On the basis of specific news, the vigilant troops of Border Out Post Jeetpur of 68 Battalion of Border Security Force took a Bangladeshi woman into custody while entering Indian territory illegally. Woman was identified as Sheela, Bangladesh. The apprehended woman was handed over to the Border Guard Bangladesh on 27 July at 0940 hrs due to humanity and goodwill. On enquiry, the woman revealed that her mother had come to India in 2019 for the treatment of her heart ailment and is currently living with her sister in Swaroop Nagar, North 24 Parganas. She further revealed that she was coming to India for further treatment and care of her mother when the BSF apprehended her. During interrogation, it was found that she is a pregnant woman.

Yoginder Agrawal, Commanding Officer of 68 Battalion stated that the Border Security Force is strictly against smuggling along the Indo-Bangladesh border. At the same time, when the matter is related to humanity, then BSF also keeps that paramount. The mutual brotherhood between the two countries is an example for others.
