BSF deployed at International Border is committed to stop smuggling and other trans border crimes on the Border. Having Zero Tolerance Policy towards the smuggling, the BSF received an input of hoarding of huge consignment of Phensedyl which falls under Narcotic and Psychotropic Substance Act (NDPS Act), in one of the house of Village – Sikri Colony under Police Station – Chapra, District- Nadia. BSF party reached the indicated house at about 1600 hrs on 8th Aug 2022 and took village members and the brother of house owner, but house owner managed to escape. During the search, BSF party recovered large number of Phensedyl bottles in gunny bags and cartons and while searching was underway the smugglers about 15-20 in numbers duly wrapped their months with the cloths fired upon BSF party with country made weapons. BSF party took cover, but due to the presence of women and children did not retaliated to the firing of the smugglers. One BSF Jawan namely Satish Kumar sustained serious injuries from the firing of armed smugglers and was immediately evacuated to Govt Hospital Chapra. The armed smugglers also managed to escape and took away large quantity of seized Phensedyl by BSF. Local Police of PS- Chapra has been requested to register two separate cases under NDPS Act and attempt to murder and Arms Act against smugglers and arrest them immediately.
