Troops of Border Security Force, under South Bengal Frontier apprehended 01 Indian and 01 Bangladeshi smuggler in separate incidents.
In the first incident on 12th August, 2022 at about 1145 hrs, Border Out Post Aambagan, 54 Battalion apprehended an Indian smuggler on the Border with 36 Phensedyl bottles which he was throwing over the fencing towards Bangladesh for the purpose of smuggling. At the same time the troops apprehended him. The apprehended smuggler was identified as Rahul Das, Nadia.
In another incident, on 12th August, 2022 at about 2100 hrs, troops of Border Out Post Dobarpara, 158 Battalion apprehended a Bangladeshi smuggler with 50 Phensedyl bottles from the area of their responsibility which he was carrying from India to Bangladesh for the purpose of smuggling. The apprehended smuggler was identified as Abdullah, Bangladesh. The estimated value of seized items is 17,655/- rupees.
The seized items and the smugglers have been handed over to Police Stations Krishnaganj and Gaighata respectively for further legal action.
Spokesperson of South Bengal Frontier in his statement expressed happiness over the success of the jawans. He stated that this has been possible only because of the alertness displayed by his jawans on duty. He also stated that he has an excellent team to give accurate information related to smuggling.
