In the series of events for celebrating ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ and to give momentum to the flagship campaign of Government of India ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ among the masses, today on 13th August, 2022, at 0600 hours, South Bengal Frontier conducted a 10 Kms Walkathon/Run at Frontier Headquarters South Bengal, BSF Rajarhat. The Walkathon/Run was followed by a large scale Tree Plantation Drive.
The main objective of these programmes were (1) to encourage local people to celebrate ‘Aajadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ with great fanfare commemorating the 75 years of our independence and feel proud of our glorious journey of last 75 years (2) to spread awareness about environment and encourage people to plant more trees.
Dr. Atul Fulzele, IPS, Inspector General of South Bengal Frontier, flagged off the Walkathon/Run. Senior officers of BSF jawans, their family members and school children participated in the event with great fervour and enthusiasm. All the participants also planted trees in and around BSF campus Rajarhat to the give boost to green cover in the area.
