Ongnam Milan Singh is an Indian professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for Mohammedan. Was born on 5th May 1992 and hails from a remote hilly area of Manipur, Milan is very dedicated and passionate towards his profession. This left-footed player is usually deployed as a central midfielder.
As a traditional central midfielder he boasts considerable work-rate helping his team both in defence and attack. A quick customer, he is not the fastest on the field, but stays ahead of everyone else because of his immediate reactions and is quick off the mark.
On 23 June 2012, Singh made his debut for the India U23 team during the qualifying round of the 2013 AFC U- 22 Asian Cup against Lebanon U-23 in which India U- 23 won 5–2.
He made his senior team debut on 22 March 2017 in the friendly match against Cambodia, which India won by 3–2.
Just before today’s Durand Cup opening match PRATYUSHA MUKHERJEE talked to ONGNAM MILAN SINGH.

Q. How is the preparation of Mohammedan Sporting for the upcoming Durand?
Preparation of our team is going on well. We have our own good training ground. Team is working hard to achieve more than last year’s result.
Q. Say something about your team prospect and all that..
This season we new faces, most of them are young and energetic, we combining with young player’s and experienced players and this season Mohammedan sporting club will see better performance than last year.
Q.Who are the key players of your team?
We have Marcus joshep in the team is key player for us but we have more similar players they also very much important players for the team.
Q. What strategy you guys will follow at the tournament ?
Improving individual and team performance in each and every training sessions. But we will rely on our Coach and will follow his strategy.
Q.Can you really assess as a season opener how a prestigious tournament like Durand will help to check the bench strength of your team?
As we start the season with the Durand Cup, we will be able to test the strength of our team. More especially, this tournament is prestigious for us because last year we were the runner team of this tournament, so our aim to become the champion this year as a team worthy of this tournament.
He is not afraid of taking pop from outside the box, when given the chance to shoot and has scored quite a few goals in that fashion. He is also a capable penalty taker.
