On 15th August on the eve of 76th year of our Country’s Independence Kasheto Sema, Gaon Pradhan of Number 1 & 2 Longtong Village under 124 No Margherita Constituency of Tinsukia district was honoured by Children Friends Club(NGO) Margherita at Longtong Village.
Papu Sah president of Children friends Club moderated the whole programme where duo Margherita Journalists Mithun Baruah and Jitu Gogoi, Kahato Sema Chairman of All Assam Sema Naga Council, Khamti Sema senior citizen of Longtong village and retired Police officer of Nagaland police, Ihoshe Sema Council member of Longtong village council, Shotoi Sema chairman of Longtong village council,Hoetoshe Sema council member of Longtong village council and Victo Sema council member of Longtong village council were present during the time of honour.
Ihoshe Sema said that our country is celebrating 75th years of Azaadi Kaa Amrit Mahotsav Country’s Independence but still we the Sema Naga of Longtong Sema Naga Village is deprived from many basic amenities which other people are enjoying.
Longtong Sema Naga village was established in the year 1904 which is 118 years old village of Tinsukia district but till now it has not been declared as an Model Village due to discrimination shown towards us as due to we belong to Sema Naga Community whereas as nearby village Tinihuti has been declared as Model village which is very unfortunate said Ihoshe Sema.
In the year 2003 than Late former President Dr A P J Abdul Kalam visited our Longtong Sema Naga village and declared that this village should be model village as it is oldest village of Tinsukia district but than also no Government has did it which we Sema Naga are much deprived and discriminate said Ihoshe Sema.
Many Chief Minister’s of Assam such as Bishnu Ram Medhi,Sarat Chandra Sinha, Gulab Borborah,Tarun Gogoi, former AGP MP Sarbananda Sonowal,former Deputy Prime Minister Lal Krishna Advani, present Education Minister of Assam Dr Ranoj Pegu,former Margherita MLA and Minister Pradyut Bordoloi and even from neighbouring States Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh many ministers also visited our Longtong Sema Naga village but than also it has not been declared as an Model village said Shitoi Sema Chairman of Longtong village council.
The roads of Number 1 and 2 Longtong village is pathetic as during the time of rainy season we get difficulty to cross the road especially the school and college students whereas nearby village of this area has been more developed which is the biggest example of discrimination towards our Sema Naga community said Kahato Sema Chairman of All Assam Sema Naga Coincil.
All the present people raised their voices against the Government and appeal not to treat Sema Naga as Step Mother Sons as Sema Naga is Indigenous Tribes of Assam and our Contribution towards the development and progress cannot be forgotten.
Sema Naga community of 124 Number Margherita Constituency under Tinsukia district consists 8575 population with 90% literacy rate which cultivation, farming, Poultry, Tea plantation are the main occupation of Sema Naga community said Kahato Sema.
Kasheto Sema Gaon Pradhan of Number 1 & 2 Longtong village was honoured with an Traditional Assamese Gamosha and a Citation by Children Friends Club(NGO) Margherita.
