Troops of South Bengal Frontier under Border Security Force apprehended 01 Bangladeshi and 01 Indian smuggler in separate incidents.
In the first incident on 18th August, 2022 at about 2000 hrs, troops of Border Out Post Dobarpara, 158 Battalion apprehended a Bangladeshi smuggler on the Border with 150 Phensedyl bottles which he was carrying from India to Bangladesh for the purpose of smuggling. Then the troops apprehended him by lying ambush. The apprehended smuggler was identified as Haarun Halder, Bangladesh.
In another incident on 18th August, 2022 at about 1445 hrs, troops of Border Out Post Hakimpur, 112 Battalion apprehended an Indian smuggler with 03 Phensedyl bottles and 01 motorcycle from the area of their responsibility which he was carrying from India to Bangladesh for the purpose of smuggling. The apprehended smuggler was identified as Anarul Ghazi, North 24 Parganas. The estimated value of the seized Phensedyl and the motorcycle is 71,000/- rupees.
The seized goods and the smugglers have been handed over to Police Stations Gaighata and Swarupnagar respectively for further legal action.
South Bengal Frontier spokesperson stated in a statement that the Border Security Force is taking strict measures to prevent smuggling along the India-Bangladesh Border. Due to which people involved in activities like smuggling are experiencing a lot of difficulties and some of them are being apprehended, who are also being punished according to the law.
