In a major successful operation against anti-national activities, Serchhip Battalion of 23 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of Inspector General Assam Rifles (East), recovered War like stores (WLS) on 01 Sep 2022. The operation was carried out Vakatkai near Tyao River of Champhai district based on specific information.
An Operation was launched by Assam Rifles personnels from Serchhip Battalion on 01 Sep 2022. The team had a specific information of a possible smuggling of WLS near Vakatkai near Tyao River. The Assam Rifles team noticed and intercepted one civil hired veh in general area Vakatkai near Tyao River and spot checking was carried out by the team. During spot checking WLS were recovered from bag of the individual . Use of such war like stores could have endangered the lives of innocent people and led to various illegal activities. This recovery has prevented the loss of precious lives. The recoveries made were :-
(i) Walkie Talkie (China make) Qty 02 Nos
(ii) Safety Fuze Qty – 03 ft
(iii) Detonator Qty – 09 Nos
(iv) Geltatin Sticks Qty – 17 Nos (17 x 125 gm). Total weight 2.125 kg

The detained pers & seized items have been handed over to Champhai Police stn for further investigation & legal proceedings.Assam Rifles, “Friends of the Hill People” over the years has been reckoned to fight against the anti national activities. This operation is a huge set back for all anti national activists. The operation’s success would go a long way in establishment of peace and harmony.
