On 13th September, 2022, at around 1345 hrs, troops of Border Out Post Tarali, 112 Battalion, under South Bengal Frontier apprehended an Indian smuggler on the Border with 175 Phensedyl bottles. The jawans on duty stopped a suspected person on a motorcycle for a search. Based on the reliable information, the jawans conducted a thorough search of 02 gas cylinders kept on the motorcycle, and 175 bottles of Phensidyl came out from inside one of them.
The smuggler during interrogation admitted that he had taken these Phensedyl bottles from Nityanand village and was to hand it over to Bangladesh via Tarali village. But at the same time the jawans on duty apprehended the smuggler with Phensedyl bottles, motorcycles and gas cylinders. The apprehended smuggler was identified as Rahul Mitra, North 24 Parganas. The estimated value of the confiscated Phensedyl is 35,930/- rupees.
The confiscated goods and the smuggler have been handed over to Custom Office Tentulia for further legal action.
Shri Narayan Chand, Commanding Officer of 112 Battalion stated that the Border Security Force is taking strict action to check smuggling along the Indo-Bangladesh Border. Due to which people involved in activities like smuggling are experiencing a lot of difficulties and some of them are getting apprehended, who are also being punished according to the law.
