The Border Security Force fulfills its duty with the objective of ‘Jeevant Paryant Kartavya” and preventing smuggling on the Border as well as protecting the people living on the Border. Troops of the 54 Battalion gave an excellent example of it.
The incident took place on 14th September, 2022 at about 2030 hrs, based on reliable information the troops of the Border Out Post Matiyari, 54 Battalion launched a special operation in which they tried to nab the smugglers with Phensedyl but the group of smugglers led by notorious smuggler Milon Mondal attacked on jawans with sharp edged weapons and sticks.
Jawans did not leave the smuggler even after being badly injured
Even after being badly injured by the attack, the jawans apprehended a smuggler namely Jahangir Alam Mondal with 504 bottles of Phensedyl. The apprehended smuggler also suffered minor injuries in the attack of the smugglers. The smugglers continued the attack for some time but a jawan managing himself, opened fire with a non lethal weapon to save himself and his buddy. After that the smugglers fled from the spot but BSF jawans succeeded in apprehending one notorious smuggler.
The injured jawans and the apprehended smuggler were immediately given first aid and then admitted to the Government Hospital, Krishnaganj. The doctor on duty gave necessary treatment to the injured. The apprehended smuggler was identified as Jahangir Alam Mandal (35) District Nadia. The estimated value of the confiscated Phensedyl is 1,03,476/- rupees.
09 smugglers attacked on the troops together.
During interrogation the apprehended smuggler revealed that he alongwith his 09 other accomplices were about to smuggle Phensedyl but he was apprehended by BSF jawans. He further revealed that to get him released, his other accomplices attacked on the BSF jawans with sharp weapons and sticks.
The apprehended smuggler was handed over to the Police Station Krishnaganj along with the confiscated Phensedyl and an FIR was lodged against him and his other associates.
Troops have the intention of sacrificing their lives for duty.
Commandant 54 Battalion stated that our jawans are committed to guard the International Border and preventing smuggling. He further stated that smugglers have intention to kill and harm the troops who protect the country but our jawans are willing to risk their lives to fulfill their duties.
