The incident took place on 17th September, 2022 at about 1530 hrs, in the area of ​​Border Out Post Lavangola, 35 Battalion, under South Bengal Frontier. When three farmers namely Lalmiya (20), Qadir Sheikh (25) and Mohammad Kamrul Sheikh (50) were working in their fields, suddenly they were struck by sky lightning. When the jawan on duty saw all this, he immediately informed the matter to company commander of Lavangola. Being Charland, the troops immediately used speedboat and brought all three to the banks of the Padma river. The company commander without delay sent BSF Ambulance along with jawans and Nursing Assistant and evacuated to them from there and got admitted the three to Government Hospital, Kanapukur for treatment. Due to timely treatment, two persons were saved while Qadir Sheikh could not be saved. The condition of both is said to be fine now.

The families of both expressed their gratitude to the Border Security Force and said that if the BSF jawans had not helped at the right time, all three could have died.

The Commanding Officer of the 35 Battalion, while patting the back of his troops, stated that his troops guard the International Border as well as protect the people with utmost loyalty and responsibility. In any untoward incident, the jawans are standing shoulder to shoulder with the people.
