AS A GESTURE OF HUMANITY AND GOODWILL, BSF HANDED OVER BANGLADESHI FISHERMEN TO BGB, APPREHENDED ON THE BORDER

On 18th September, 2022 at around 1145 hrs, 07 Bangladeshi fishermen who had entered into Indian territory were apprehended by alert troops of Border Out Post Mohanganj ,117 Battalion under South Bengal Frontier. These fishermen had come by boats to catch fishes in the Padma river and entered into the Indian territory. 20 kg fish including 02 boats and fishing net were found from them.

During interrogation, they all admitted that they had entered into the Indian territory in the greed of catching more fish. They were apprehended by BSF troops while crossing the International Border.

All the apprehended fishermen were handed over to the BGB on the basis of humanitarian and goodwill.

The Commanding Officer of the 117 Battalion stated that the Border Security Force is taking strict measures to prevent infiltration along the Indo-Bangladesh Border. Considering the seriousness of the crime of the apprehended people and to maintain the mutual cooperation and goodwill of the Border Guarding Forces of both the countries, some innocent Bangladeshis are handed over to the BGB safely.
