On 18th September, 2022 at around 1230 hrs, on the basis of reliable information, troops of ICP Ghojadanga, 153 Battalion under South Bengal Frontier, apprehended 01 truck driver and 01 Khalasi with 05 kg of Ganja during search of the truck. During the search, it was seen that they had hidden this ganja in the cabin of the truck and was carrying it for smuggling in Bangladesh. The apprehended smugglers were identified as Rahul Islam (25) and Amirul Islam Moola (32), North 24 Parganas.
During interrogation, both revealed that this ganja was given by Hafizul Biswas village, Pakardanga to them and further was to handed over to Bangladeshi smuggler Badal, village Bhomra. But during the search of the truck at ICP Ghojadanga, the troops seized it. After this, the jawans took both of them into custody along with the confiscated items.
The seized ganja, truck and smugglers have been handed over to the Basirhat Police Station for further legal action.
Officiating Commanding Officer of 153 Battalion stated that the Border Security Force is taking strict measures to check smuggling along the Indo-Bangladesh Border. Further, the officer stated in strong words that the Border Security Force will not allow smuggling under any circumstances.
