On 19th Sept’ 2022, an Investiture Ceremony was held at Biswa Bangla Convention Centre, Kolkata in which 42 BSF personnel were awarded President Police Medal for Meritorious Service by Shri Rajwinder Singh Bhatti, IPS, ADDL DG (Eastern Command). Dr. Atul Fulzele, IPS, Inspector General, South Bengal Frontier welcomed the chief guest. The medal awardee includes 35 Serving personnel and 07 retired members of the Force. During the Investiture Ceremony officers, jawans and their families were in attendance with BSF fraternity today.

Since 2003, the Investiture Ceremony is celebrated annually to mark the birth anniversary of first Director General of BSF, Shri K F Rustamji.
Welcoming all the dignitaries present, Shri Rajwinder Singh Bhatti, IPS, ADG (Eastern Command) paid tributes to the martyrs of the Force who made the supreme sacrifice for the motherland at the altar of duty. Emphasizing the constant endeavour of the Force in preparing itself in terms of strategy, infrastructure, weaponry and training, ADDL DG BSF (Eastern Command) referred specifically to the various operational achievements by alert Seema Praharis while thwarting the nefarious designs of Anti-National Elements. The Additional Director General lauded the relentless, dedicated and clean service rendered by the medal winners and spoke about the ‘Soldierly traits and Visionary Leadership Skills’ of first Director General, Padma Vibhushan Shri K F Rustamji who is popularly referred to as “Founding Father of BSF”.

42 Medal awardees, their families and more than 150 officers, subordinates officers, and BSF staff along with family members participated in the function.
