THE SENTINELS OF THE NORTH EAST-ASSAM RIFLES RECOVERS HUGE TACTICAL STORES NEAR NIAWTHLANG VILLAGE OF SIAHA DISTRICT, MIZORAM

In a major successful operation against anti-national activities, Lunglei Battalion of 23 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of Inspector General Assam Rifles (East), recovered a huge cache of tactical and war like stores near Niawthlang village of Siaha district on 21 September 2022.


An Operation was launched by Assam Rifles personnel from Siaha post of Lunglei Battalion alongwith Police representatives from Siaha Police Station based on specific information on 21 Sep 2022. The team had specific information about movement of tactical and war like stores for insurgents based in Myanmar in two Sumo vehicles. The Assam Rifles team alongwith Police representatives utilized the cover of darkness and mental ingenuity to intercept the said vehicles and carried out search leading to the recovery. The stores recovered were of military grade and hence the same being used for anti-national activities against own people, by insurgents based in Myanmar, cannot be ruled out. The recoveries include radio sets, tactical vests, tactical gloves, air gun, air gun pellets, combat uniform and boots worth Rs Fifteen Lakh ninety two thousand nine hundred fifty. Five Myanmar nationals and two Indian nationals were also apprehended.

The detained personal & seized items have been handed over to Siaha Police station on 21 Sep 2022 for further investigation & legal proceedings.

Assam Rifles “Friends of the Hill People” over the years has become a force to be reckoned with in the fight against anti-nationals. This operation is a huge setback for all anti-national activists. The operation’s success would go a long way in establishment of peace and harmony along the Indo Myanmar Border.
