In the first incident, on 1st October’ 2022 at 0745 hrs, on the basis of reliable information, troops of Border Out Post Gobardha, 153 Battalion under South Bengal Frontier apprehended a smuggler with 04 gold biscuits. The weight of the confiscated biscuits is 472.12 grams and the estimated value is 24,45,817.66/- rupees. The jawans on duty noticed a suspicious person coming from the side of village Bittipara. According to the information, when the jawans searched the said person after coming to them, then 04 biscuits of gold were found from his possession. At that moment the troops apprehended him. The apprehended smuggler was identified as Rajesh Misri, District North 24 Parganas.
During interrogation, the smuggler revealed that yesterday he had taken these biscuits from Bangladeshi smuggler Mahur and was to hand it over to Bangladeshi smuggler Asim Das at Bhaduri Market.
In another incident, on 1st October’ 2022 at 0940 hrs, acting on the basis of reliable information troops of Border Out Post Hakimpur, 112 Battalion apprehended 01 woman smuggler with 58 gold rings. The confiscated rings weight is 140.690 grams and their estimated value is 6,83,049/- rupees. The troops on duty noticed a suspicious woman coming from village Swaroopdha village and going towards village Hakimpur. The lady constable on duty stopped her, interrogated her and took her to the checking room and searched her and found 58 gold rings from her possession which were wrapped in brown tape. At that moment the troops apprehended her. The apprehended woman smuggler was identified as Sarmina Khatoon, District North 24 Parganas.
The woman smuggler during interrogation, revealed that she is involved in this type of smuggling for some time and today she had taken these ornaments from an unknown person from Swaroopdha market and further to hand it over to a person named Yusha Gen in village Tarali. But BSF jawans apprehended her.
The arrested smugglers along with the seized goods were handed over to Custom Office Tentulia for further legal action.
Spokesperson of South Bengal Frontier stated that BSF is continuously making efforts to stop smuggling along the Border and it has also got success in this work. Due to which people involved in crimes like smuggling are constantly being apprehended.
