BSF APPREHENDED A SMUGGLER WITH GOLD WORTH RUPEES 30 LAKHS ON THE BORDER

On 30th September’ 2022, on the basis of reliable information, troops of the Border Out Post Madhupur, 68 Battalion under the South Bengal Frontier, apprehended a smuggler with 05 gold biscuits. The weight of the seized biscuits is 580 grams and the estimated value is 29,58,000/-. rupees. The troops on duty observed that a smuggler from Bangladesh had thrown something over the fencing towards India side. At the same time, when an Indian smuggler who was on bicycle ran to pick the consignment, the troops apprehended him on the spot. When the smuggler was searched, five gold biscuits wrapped in old cloth were found from him. The jawans immediately apprehended the smuggler with the goods and brought him to the Border Out Post for further questioning. The apprehended smuggler was identified as Chhabadar Biswas, District North 24 Parganas.

During interrogation, the smuggler admitted that he was indulging in such smuggling for a long time. He further revealed that he was going to get these biscuits from a Bangladeshi smuggler. But BSF jawans foiled his attempt.

The apprehended smuggler along with the seized goods has been handed over to Custom Office Baghdah for further legal action.

The Commanding Officer of the 68 Battalion stated that the BSF is constantly trying to stop smuggling along the Border and it has also got success in this work. Due to which people involved in crimes like smuggling are constantly being apprehended.
