On 1st October’ 2022 at around 1430 hrs, on the basis of reliable information, troops of Border Out Post Pipli, 158 Battalion under South Frontier apprehended a smuggler with 07 kg of ganja from his house. The smuggler was identified as Jaidev Kha, District North 24 Parganas.
The smuggler revealed during interrogation that his house is very close to the Border. He further revealed that a woman named Rewa, who is a resident of Tentulberia, whose farm is adjacent to his house, the said woman had hidden this ganja behind his house. After that BSF jawans apprehended him with that ganja.
The apprehended person along with the confiscated goods was handed over to the Police Station Gaighata for further legal action.
The commanding officer of 158 Battalion stated that the BSF jawans are ready in their area and are trying to stop crimes like smuggling. The officer also stated that our intelligence department is also constantly trying to find the absconding woman so that the reality comes out according to the statement of the apprehended person.
