On 3rd October’ 2022 at 1915 hrs, troops of Border Out Post Nawada, 70 Battalion under South Bengal Frontier thwarted the plans of smugglers seized 3,137 Yaba tablets, 50 grams of narcotics, 70.43 grams of silver and 12 bottles of phensedyl. The estimated price of consignment is 15,75,285/- rupees.
The jawans noticed some suspicious movement of smugglers in their area of responsibility. At the same time the troops cordoned off the area and started advancing forward. Seeing the troops coming towards them, the smugglers fled away by taking the advantage of dense darkness and tall bushes. When the jawans conducted a thorough search of the area, they found all these contraband items. Whom the smugglers were trying to take from India to Bangladesh.
The confiscated contraband items were handed over to the Police Post Gulapganj (under Police Station Kaliachak).
The Commanding Officer of the 70 Battalion stated that the Border Security Force is taking strict measures to check smuggling along the Indo-Bangladesh Border. Due to which people involved in smuggling are experiencing a lot of difficulties and some of them are getting apprehended. The officer also stated in strong words that the Border Security Force will not allow smuggling under any circumstances.
