In the first incident on 3rd October’ 2022 at 1400 hrs, acting on the basis of reliable information troops of Border Out Post Jayantipur, 158 Battalion apprehended 02 smugglers with 06 kg of ganja who were going from Petrapole to Jayantipur by cycle. Seeing the troops coming towards them, the smugglers ran away leaving behind the packets of ganja, but the troops chased them and apprehended them. The apprehended smugglers were identified as Qutubuddin Chhatra Mali and Meher Mali, District North 24 Parganas.
During interrogation, both the smugglers admitted that they were involved in such smuggling for many years. They had taken this ganja from Ajgar Sardar, a resident of Jayantipur and further was about to hand over to a smuggler named Milan in Bangladesh.
On the other hand, in another incident, on 3rd October’ 2022 at 1750 hrs, acting on reliable information, troops of Border Out Post Amudia, 112 Battalion during a special operation, seized 10 kg of ganja from their area, which was wrapped in black tape in deep vegetation.
The apprehended smugglers and confiscated goods were handed over to Police Station Petrapole and Custom Office Tentulia respectively for further legal action.
Spokesperson of South Bengal Frontier stated that the Border Security Force is taking strict measures to check smuggling along the Indo-Bangladesh Border. Due to which people involved in smuggling are facing a lot of difficulties. The officer stated in strong words that the Border Security Force will not allow smuggling under any circumstances.
