On 16th October, 2022 at 0045 hrs, troops of Border Out Post Sasani, 70 Battalion under South Bengal Frontier, in a joint operation with police seized 40 numbers of mobile phones from the house of smugglers.
The jawans got specific information that some mobiles are hidden for smuggling in the house of two suspects in Sasani village. The jawans also informed the Golapganj Police Post. After this, BSF and Police conducted a joint operation and raided the house of the suspects. In the raid, 40 pieces of mobile phones were seized from his house, which was estimated to be worth 3,65,000/- rupees. They immediately apprehended the smugglers. The apprehended smugglers were identified as Tafjul and Yasim, Malda. During interrogation, the smugglers admitted that they had taken these mobiles from Habibur and Rubel, Malda and were to be handed over to Rasool Sheikh, Bangladesh.
The apprehended smugglers and the confiscated goods were handed over to the Police Post Golabganj (under police station Kaliachak) for further legal action.
The Commanding Officer of the 70 Battalion stated that the Border Security Force is taking strict measures to prevent smuggling along the Indo-Bangladesh Border. Due to which people involved in activities like smuggling are experiencing a lot of difficulties and some of them are getting apprehended, who are also being punished according to the law.
