On 20th October’ 2022, at 0405 hrs, acting on the basis of reliable information troops of the Border Out Post Angrail, 158 Battalion, under the South Bengal Frontier seized 200 bottles of Phensedyl on the Border. The jawans noticed the movement of some smugglers in their area of responsibility. When the troops started advancing towards them, the smugglers fled taking advantage of the thick bushes and darkness. On a thorough search of the area, 02 nylon bags were recovered in which a total of 200 bottles of Phensedyl were recovered.
In other incidents, on 19th/20th October’ 2022, troops of Border Out Post Sagarpara, 141 Battalion, Border Out Post Daulatpur, 115 Battalion and Border Out Post M S Pur, 70 Battalion seized a total of 197 bottles of Phensedyl from different places. The value of the total seized Phensedyl is 81,508/- rupees.
The confiscated goods were handed over to Police Stations Gaighata, Sagarpara, Vaishnavnagar and Custom Office Malda respectively for further legal action.
Spokesperson of South Bengal Frontier stated that the Border Security Force is taking strict measures to check smuggling along the Indo-Bangladesh Border. Due to which people indulged in smuggling are experiencing a lot of difficulties and some of them are getting apprehended. Further, he stated in strong words that the Border Security Force will not allow smuggling under any circumstances.
