Assam: Sivasagar man dies while watching thrilling India-Pak World Cup T20 match

A 34-year old cricket fan from Sivasagar town Bitu Gogoi died while watching the India-Pakistan T20 World Cup match on the big screen. The incident took place on Sunday evening when Gogoi along with some of his friends was watching the thrilling cricket match at the Bhaskarjyoti Cinema Hall in Sivasagar town. The cinema hall had made special arrangements for live screening of the India-Pakistan match on the demand of cricket fans. The person collapsed during the final over of the thrilling cricket match which India managed to win defying all odds. 

According to one of his friends, the person may have died due to “excessive excitement” while watching the cricket match.

“We were watching the match together when he let out a loud roar after Kohli hit a six in the last over. Immediately he collapsed and became unconscious. We took him to the Sivasagar civil hospital within 10 minutes where he was declared dead on arrival,” said Nabajit Borpatra Gohain one of his friends. 

Gogoi who had recently tied the knot lived in Ganakpatty area of Sivasagar. He left behind his 5-month pregnant wife. He use to rent out a vehicle to ONGC (Oil and Natural Gas Corporation) in Sivasagar. As per his family, Gogoi was healthy and did not suffer from any health issues. The post-mortem will be carried out on Monday which will reveal the actual cause of his death.
