On 05th November’ 2022 at 2330 hrs, acting on the basis of reliable information, the troops of Border Out Post Khasmahal, 141 Battalion under South Bengal Frontier, seized a huge quantity of Phensedyl on the Border. The troops on duty observed the movement of some smugglers near the fence. When the jawans started advancing towards them, the smugglers left some belongings and fled away by taking the advantage of the thick darkness. After this, the troops recovered 06 bags from the spot, out of which 940 bottles of Phensedyl were found. Smugglers were trying to take these bottles from India to Bangladesh.
In another incident, on 05th November’ 2022, troops of Border Out Post Dobarpara, 158 Battalion seized 90 bottles of Phensedyl from their area of ​​responsibility. The estimated value of all the seized 1030 bottles is 2,11,500/- rupees.
The confiscated goods were handed over to Police Stations Gaighata and Sagarpara respectively for further legal action.
Spokesperson of South Bengal Frontier stated that the Border Security Force is taking strict measures to check smuggling along the Indo-Bangladesh Border. Due to which people indulged in smuggling are experiencing a lot of difficulties and some of them are getting apprehended. The officer further stated in strong words that the Border Security Force will not allow smuggling under any circumstances.
