SOUTH BENGAL FRONTIER, BSF HOSTS 45TH INTER- FRONTIER FOOTBALL COMPETITION – 2022

45th BSF Inter-Frontier Football Tournament has commenced from 07th November to 11th November, 2022. This time it is being hosted by South Bengal Frontier BSF Kolkata. The Chief Guest of the function, Shri Ajit Kumar Tete, Deputy Inspector General, (PSO), Frontier HQrs South Bengal, BSF inaugurated the BSF Inter Football Competition in the presence of officers, subordinate officers and jawans of Border Security Force in a splendid ceremony. The function started with march past parade of contingents of 11 Frontiers of BSF.

The matches in this five-day tournament will be held at Kalyani Stadium, Municipal Ground, Kalyani, 158 Battalion, BSF Football Ground, and Agricultural School, Mohanpur. Shri Ajit Kumar Tete, DIG (PSO) in the presence of Shri Mukesh Tyagi, DIG, Shri Rajesh Kumar, DIG, Shri A K Arya, DIG, Shri Naresh Chaturvedi, DIG, Shri Kunal Majumdar, DIG (Retd), Shri Prawin Kumar, Commandant and Shri Narayan Chand, Commandant, administered the oath to all the teams participating in the tournament to compete in true sportsmanship with each other.

The 11 football teams from 11 Frontier Headquarters of BSF are participating in this tournament. Total 18 matches will be played in this football competition. The teams are divided into four pools. The teams will play league matches on 7th and 8th November. The winning teams from the league match will play the quarter finals on 9th November. The semi-final and final matches will be played on November 10th and 11th November, 2022 respectively.

On the first day of the tournament, first match was played between South Bengal Frontier and Mizoram & Cachar Frontier which was witnessed by senior BSF officers, subordinate officers, jawans and more than 300 spectators. After a tough fight, South Bengal Frontier’s team won the match 2–0 and established their lead in the tournament.

During the ceremony, the jawans gave a splendid performance of Bhangra dance which was thoroughly enjoyed by all the spectators present in the stadium.

BSF has always encouraged sports and has been actively participating in sports activities at national level. Organizing such tournaments, the feeling of co-operation and working in teams increase among troops.
