AAI win friendly cricket match at Tatibama Govt High School, Guwahati

On the occasion of Children’s Day, a friendly cricket match was organised at Tatibama Govt. High School, Rani Block, Guwahati in coordination with UNDP India on 14 Nov 2022. Students of Tatibama Govt High school participated in a cultural programme along with Bihu dance. Girl students also performed on traditional songs to welcome the guests on the occasion.


The occasion was graced by the presence of Chief Guest Shri Gian Batra, Regional Executive Director (officiating), AAI; Shri Harish Mehta Jt. GM, AAI; Shri M.P Tiwari Dy. GM, AAI; Shri Shubham, Communication Head, UNDP and the teachers of Tatibama Govt high school. Present guests and the participants interacted with the students and the teachers of the school and wished them the best.


Addressing the participants and the players, Shri Batra said that Airports Authority of India has always contributed for the development of underprivileged section of the society and under our CSR programme, AAI is continuously implementing several schemes in rural area near the airports. Organising such events will bring us together and will act as social interaction session between cooperates and the rural population.
Congratulating the students of the school on Children’s Day he said that friendly matches are learning experience for the juveniles and we are here to help them grow in the fields they want to. Our CSR programmes have helped many people and it will be our pleasure to continue such events. Sports equipment including carrom boards, cricket bats and related items were also distributed by the chief guest to the schools of Rani Block on the occasion.
The cricket match was organized under the Corporate Social Responsibility programme of Airports Authority of India (AAI). Two teams that participated were employees of Airports Authority of India, Guwahati and Tatibama cricket club, Govt High School, Rani Block.


The friendly cricket match of 12 overs between AAI and Tatibama Govt High school was won by the Airports Authority of India. Tatibama’s team won the toss and opted to bowl first. Shekhar Kumar of AAI was adjudged Man of the match for his all-round performance.


Airports Authority of India in association with UNDP India has implemented several CSR related schemes in the Rani Development Block under Resilience Building of Communities programme that aims to empower 15 villages in the block. It covers digital literacy, access to clean drinking water, sanitation and quality healthcare along with access to clean energy.


The event was organized by UNDP, India and coordination by a team led by Shri Plabon Phukan. Shri M.P Tiwari, CSR in charge of AAI on the day extended his sincere thanks to all the members, teachers, participants and the event organisers for a successful and interactive programme.
