BSF APPREHENDED A SMUGGLER WITH MOBILES AND Phensedyl Worth More THAN 10 LAKHS

On 19th November, 2022, at 0120 hrs, troops of Border Out Post Nawada, 70 Battalion under South Bengal Frontier apprehended a smuggler red handed with 272 Phensedyl Bottles and 67 numbera of Mobile Phones. The estimated value of seized items is 10,65,844/- rupees. Smugglers were trying to take these items from India to Bangladesh.

Acting on the basis of specific intelligence, the jawans of Border Out Post Nawada laid a special ambush. The ambush party observed that some smugglers were trying to move towards Bangladesh. The jawans challenged the smugglers to stop, but hearing the voice of the jawans, the smugglers started running towards the Indian village. The jawans chased them and apprehended a smuggler from whom 272 Phensedyl bottles and 67 mobile phones were recovered. The rest of the smugglers managed to escape by taking advantage of the darkness and the bushes. The apprehended smuggler has been identified as Amir Hamzad, Malda.

During interrogation, the smuggler revealed that he had taken these Phensedyl bottles and mobile phones from an unknown smuggler of village Churiantpur. After this he wanted to cross the international border to hand over the consignment to a Bangladeshi smuggler but was apprehended by the BSF.

The apprehended smuggler and the seized items were handed over to Police Station Kaliachak for further legal action.

The Commanding Officer of the 70 Battalion stated that the Border Security Force is taking strict measures to prevent smuggling along the India-Bangladesh Border. He stated in strong words that we are fully committed to stop smuggling from our area of ​​responsibility.
