On the occasion of Lachit Divas Margherita SDO(Civil) office organised a Wall painting competition at the office premises on thursday. Students from 12 different schools of the subdivision took part in the competition. Students from Margherita Public Higher Secondary School were awarded 1st prize, followed by St. Mary’s School, Margherita 2nd prize and two schools were adjudged the third position Town High School, Margherita and Tirap High School. The winning teams were awarded cash prizes.
In continuation with the 400th Birth Anniversary of the legendary Military general of Assam, a wall painting evoking the indomitable spirit of Mahabir Lachit Borphukan by Mahendra Das, Artist, principal and mentor of Mahendra Art Centre was also inaugurated at the office of the SDO(c).
Ceremonial lamp was lighted and floral tributes were also offered by Preeti Kumari SDO(civil) administrative officials, participating students of the wall painting competition and co-ordinating teachers from all the schools.
