On 02nd December’ 2022, troops of Border Out Post Nawada, 70 Battalion under South Bengal Frontier seized 2218 Yaba Tablets worth 11,09,000/- rupees near the international border. There was an attempt to take them from India to Bangladesh from the area of Malda district for the purpose of smuggling.
On the basis of the information received, the jawans on duty observed that 02 persons were moving towards the border with 02 bags in their hands. When the jawans chased them, they took the opportunity and ran away. Jawans reached to the spot and thoroughly searched the area, a potala was recovered from there in which the said Yaba tablets were found. Apart from this, 580 Buprenorphine injections were also found in the bag. The estimated value of the seized Yaba tablets and injections is 11,23,500/- rupees.
The seized items have been handed over to Police Station Golapganj (under PS Kaliachak) for further legal action.
The Commanding Officer of 70 Battalion has expressed happiness over the achievements of the jawans. He stated that from where the seized Yaba tablets came and whom was to give them, our intelligence department is working on it. He also stated that prevention of such smuggling is possible only because of the vigilance displayed by his jawans on duty.
