In certain areas along the LAC in the Tawang Sector in Arunachal Pradesh there are areas of differing perception, wherein both sides patrol the area upto their claim lines. This has been the trend since 2006.
On 09 December 2022, PLA troops contacted the LAC in Tawang Sector which was contested by Indian troops in a firm and resolute manner. This face-off led to minor injuries to few personnel from both sides.
Both sides immediately disengaged from the area. As a follow up of the incident, own Commander in the area held a Flag Meeting with his counterpart to discuss the issue in accordance with structured mechanisms to restore peace and tranquility.
At present, the world’s largest and experienced country with plateau and mountain troops is neither the US, Russia nor any European power house,but India”, wrote Huang Guozhi,senior editor of Bejing’s Modern Weaponry. This magazine,a respected defence journal ,is affiliated to the state owned China North Industries Group Corporation Limited(NORINCO) the main supplier of military hardware for the PLA.Huang Guozhi added”India has the world’s largest and most experienced troops trained for high altitude battle and mountain warfare.”
