The Northeastern states of India Meghalaya today celebrates 150th death anniversary of another forgotten son of India Pa Togan Sangma .
In the year 1872 some British soldiers entered Garo Hills and set up camp in a village named “Matcha Rongkrek” which is near Chiso Bibra.
Togan Sangma was one of the Garo warriors to fight the British Army and bring an end to British rule in the Garo Hills of Meghalaya.
The Chief Minister of India Conrad Sangma tweet,”On his 150th death anniversary, I join the people of Meghalaya in paying homage to the gallant warrior and freedom fighter of our State, Pa Togan Sangma.
A symbol of great courage, he will forever be remembered as the defender of our land and our people.”
